Rabatana is a little part of Tursi town located in Lucania Region, now almost completely abandoned. The aim of this work is to try to offer an interpretation, reading across the history, of the strong bond between natural and built environment. The aim is pursued across the analysis of the natural environment during the epoch which as seen, with more probability, settlement birth and consolidation, that is between IX and XIII sec.. It has been recostructed climate, landscape and an outline of the territory resources, such as water and earth, looking for the way as all this became part of the built environment. We focused particularly on some aspects of the built environment hypogeum facies and the hydraulic system concerning the water storage inside the urban texture during high medieval epoch.

Abstract
