Abstract

Me2InCl reacts with LiNEt2 in diethyl ether solution to give the easily sublimable compound [Me2InNEt2]2 whose UV photoelectron spectra are reported and discussed in combination with its molecular and crystal structure, in particular as regards the In?N interactions within the dimeric molecule. Reactions of [Me2InNEt2]2 with moderately acidic agents such as R2PH lead to cleavage of the In?NEt2 bond and formation of Me2InPR2 (R = Et, C6H5).
