Abstract

Low temperature plasma deposition and treatment processes can be successfully employed in order to modify surfaces of biomedical interest, as well as to improve membrane properties. In particular, plasma processes can be used to improve the adhesion, spreading and proliferation of cells at the surface of materials, to tune the hydrophilic/hydrophobic and non fouling properties, and to provide surfaces suitable for immobilizing molecules (catalysts, biomolecules, etc.).
