Agrometeorology is the discipline which studies the interactions between meteorologic and hydrologic factors on the one hand and agriculture (horticulture, animal breeding, selviculture, etc.) on the other. The field of investigation goes from the layer of soil occupied by the root apparatus of plants to the layer of air in which plants grow and animals live. In this context, knowledge about meteorological parameters is fundamental in order to study the interactions between climate and plants and to construct crop growth models. A meteorological quantity can be measured with instruments which are different for the type of sensor, position of installation, or level of automation, but in order that the data are comparable among them and representative of the measured phenomenon, precise rules for its measurement must be respected. In this chapter meteorological parameters are defined, measurement instruments are identified and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) indications regarding their installation and field use are reported. In addition, accuracy requirements for the measurement of meteorological quantities, according to the Commission of the WMO for Instruments and Methods of Observation (CIMO), are presented.
L'agrometeorologia è la disciplina che studia le interazioni tra fattori meteorologici e idrologici da una parte e l'agricoltura (orticoltura, allevamento, selvicoltura, ecc.) dall'altra. Il campo di indagine spazia dallo strato di terreno occupato dagli apparati radicali delle piante allo strato d'aria nel quale crescono le piante e vivono gli animali. In tale ambito la conoscenza dei parametri meteorologici risulta fondamentale per studiare le interazioni tra clima e piante e realizzare modelli di crescita delle colture. Una grandezza meteorologica può essere misurata con strumenti differenti per caratteristiche del sensore, della posizione di installazione, dell'automatismo, ma affinché i dati siano confrontabili tra loro e rappresentativi del fenomeno rilevato è necessario rispettare delle regole ben precise per la sua misura. In questo capitolo si definiscono i parametri meteorologici, si individuano gli strumenti di misura e si riportano le indicazioni dell'Organizzazione Meteorologica Mondiale (OMM) per la loro installazione e il loro uso in campo. Vengono inoltre riportati i requisiti di accuratezza per la misura delle grandezze meteorologiche secondo la Commissione dell'OMM per gli Strumenti e i Metodi di Osservazione (CIMO).
