The aim of this work is twofold: a) to deduce such a surface reactivity of a precipitated silica, Zeosil 1165 MP, by grafting on it (1-3) different kinds of alkoxysilanes, like octadecyltriethox-ysilane (ODTES) , triethoxysilane (TES), methoxy(dimethyl)octadecylsilane (DMMOS) , methoxytrimethylsilane (TMMS ); b) to evaluate the change of surface hydrophylicity of modified silicas. Grafting degree of the silanes onto silica particles was determined by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA); change of surface thermodynamic properties of silica was studied by inverse gas chromatography (IGC), at infinite dilution.
