The present paper is concerned with the design of a model of fiber optic sensor for pH measurement in the physiological range (7. 0-7. 5). Up to now a few pH fiber optic sensor have been developed. The model here described makes use of a liquid optrode, formed by a dye solution contained within a membrane, attached to the end of a couple of optical fibers. Consequently two lines have been followed: choice of the most appropriate dye and choice of a proper membrane.
