(continued) Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) is implemented at large distance z from nozzle (non-dimensional abscissa Zita>100) for different radial co-ordinates (r=4, 5 mm) at the spray periphery. Very small droplets (average size less than 5 micron) are found, at injection pressures above 40 MPa, in the inner region (r < 2 mm) of the spray by both the experimental techniques. The presence of a class of very fine droplets (size below 1 micron) is argued by TCLE at locations lying along the spray centerline. Complementary character about the experimental applicability of the Two Colour Laser Extinction with respect to the Phase Doppler Anemometry is discussed. Scarce correlation between droplet size and velocity is found in the spray zone situated far (Zita>100) from the injector nozzle tip. //Engineering on line Springer library: http://www.springer.de/engine/
