This contribution gives an overview of the migration flows between Italy and Germany with a focus on their geographic distribution. The Italian-German agreement on the recruitment of Italian Guest workers signed in 1955 let to an increase in the migration flows between Italy and Germany. The changes over time and the main traits of these migration flows are presented. The geographic distribution of the Italian population living in Germany and the geographic distribution in Italy of the migration flows between Italy and Germany are analysed. The geographic approach could bridge the micro and macro approaches in studying the Italian-German migration flows in the last decades.
