The aim of the present work is to provide EFD data and UA suitable for physical understanding and CFD validation (i.e. U-RANS codes) for extreme ship model motions in large amplitude waves. To this purpose controlled experiments in semi-captive conditions have been performed on a new concept ship, the ONR Tumblehome. Beam sea, head sea and following sea tests have been carried out on a 3 m model in the INSEAN basin n. 2, using simultaneously different measurement systems (MS). For the restrained motions the time histories of the forces and moments have been measured. The precision index (PI) has been determined based on 5 repeated tests. Finally, the obtained results for the ONR Tumblehome have been compared with the results obtained for the DTMB 5415 for the beam sea tests.

Abstract
Finally, the obtained results for the ONR Tumblehome have been compared with the results obtained for the DTMB 5415 for the beam sea tests.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
