BIODIVERSITÀ E CONSERVAZIONE DI SPECIE FORESTALI ENDEMICHE E RELITTE IN SICILIA

Floristic biodiversity is quite remarkable in Sicily, with more than 2700 specific and infraspecific taxa. About 400 taxa are endemic and many of them are at risk of extinction. This work introduces the result of a research realized by the Regional Forest Service (ARFD), for the genetic characterization of the main forest species of the island. The result allowed to define: 1) the actions finalized to the conservation of the risk extinction species; 2) the criteria for a corrected forestry management; 3) the base elements for the location of groups and/or forests for seed production.

In Sicilia è presente una notevolissima biodiversità vegetale, con oltre 2700 taxa specifici e infraspecifici, di cui circa 400 endemici, molti a rischio estinzione. Il lavoro presenta i risultati di una ricerca curata dall'Azienda Regionale Foreste Demaniali (ARFD), per la caratterizzazione genetica delle principali specie forestali dell'isola. I risultati hanno permesso di definire: 1) le azioni finalizzate alla conservazione delle specie a rischio estinzione; 2) i criteri per una corretta gestione selvicolturale del patrimonio forestale dell'isola; 3) gli elementi conoscitivi di base per la individuazione di nuclei e/o boschi da seme.
