Abstract
Using time-lapse video microscopy, we have followed the process of neuronal death in an intact region of the mammalian nervous system. We show here the fast dynamics of nuclear fragmentation, which is over in <1 hr for neurons undergoing apoptosis in the living rat retina. Nuclear fragmentation is accompanied by a progressive raise of intracellular calcium and followed by erratic movement of the apoptotic cells, documenting their loss of adhesion.File in questo prodotto:
