Abstract

This article analyses contents and structures of some "green oriented" Regional Laws and Municipal Building Codes in the United States, UK ad Italy - focusing on supporting measures - and gives some suggestions for increasing the demand of sustainable building. A mix of instruments is needed: voluntary programs as partners in code promulgation and implementation; codes as a marketing opportunity for voluntary programs; incentives for clients; rating systems for auditing. However, the strength of any approach lies in the ability of the marketplace to look at these instruments as a means to improve financial return in property transactions.
