The Royal Audience is adopted during the Ur III period when it becomes a special imagery whcih is linked to the administrative re-organization of the reign. In this period the Royal Audience is used by most important state officials. This particular iconography and a royal/personal inscription represent the figurative message of the political and ideological program of the Ur III kings. But also during the Early Old Babylonian phase (especially in the 20th and 19th centuries BC) it is attested on the glyptic art of central and southern Babylonia.
