Abstract

During hydrostratigraphical studies concerning deep aquifers in the messinian-quaternary successions (Piemonte plain - NW Italy), an analysis about the layer which separates fresh and salt water beds was carried out by a working group of the CNR-IGG of Turin and the earth department of the Turin university. The approach used to identify this surface consists in an extrapolation by means of a conceptual model of distribution in a sediment of data related to salt water presence all over a basin. In this research the methodological approach used had been permitted also to identify the fresh/salt water interface evolution during the time in Piemonte sedimentary successions.
