Surface magnetism of 10 ML Fe(100) films grown on Ag(100) at 150 K and 300 K has been studied by Spin Polarized Metastable Deexcitation Spectroscopy (SPMDS). The data show a negative magnetization of the s-p electrons of iron in the vacuum region at the distances (3-5 A) probed by SPMDS. The extreme surface sensitivity of this spectroscopy allows to observe the magnetization of silver segregated at the surface of the film grown at room temperature. Evidence on the correlation between the segregation of silver and the iron magnetization is also reported.
