In this article the Author focuses on the relation between 'On Arrogance' and another moral treatise by Philodemus, the book 'On Anger', identifying the sources of the latter and proving that these are of a very similar philosophical kind as those of the former. More generally, the Author highlights the systematic use and appropriation of Stoic sources by Philodemus in his works about passions and vices and provides philosophical and historical grounds for this.
