We report the synthesis and structure of the first example of a decametallic mixed-valent Mn supertetrahedron, using 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (ampdH2, Figure 1) that displays dominant ferromagnetic exchange and a spin ground state of S = 22. In addition, we show that the magnetic behaviour of the compound is particularly appealing in view of its possible application as an efficient low-temperature magnetic refrigerant.
