The effect of Au coatings on reactions of charging/discharging of Pd hydride (deuteride) electrode were studied. The Au electroless deposition reaction on PdHx yielded coatings with good adhesion properties during cathodic/anodic cycles. Au coatings retard the exit of H(D) from Pd, but do not block entry during water electrolysis.
