Within the European project " Stock assessment of some coastal species caught by artisanal fishery", Sicilian samples of Striped seabream Lithognatus mormyrus has been compared with Greeks ones. The aim of the study was to identify, by allozymic and growth parameters analysis, any differences between the two stock considered. The conclusion of allozymic variation analysis do not suggest any geographical pattern or different local polpulations, therefore the sample of Lithognatus mormyrus examined were genetically homogeneous. A similar conclusion has been reached also through the growth parameters analysis.
