The paper presents the results of a qualitative study carried on by Isfol through the analysis of 10 case studies (small enterprises, located in the southern regions of Italy, that showed good market positioning capability despite the crisis). The aim of the study is to identify policies to support organizational development and competitiveness of small businesses in traditional production sectors in the South of Italy. The main results show a focus on human resources management according to specific adhocratic models, a clear vision of the position that the company holds in the market and the enhancement of the history of the company and the entrepreneur, in relation to the territory.
