This paper deals with the application of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technique to the detailed diagnostics of a fractured limestone zone. The GPR survey exploits low-frequency antennas and a data processing approach, based on microwave tomography, is exploited to improve the interpretability of the diagnostic results. In particular, the results of the survey permits to identify and localise the detachment surface in the underground, which could be responsible of a landslide and consequent rock-fall.

Abstract

This paper deals with the application of the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technique to the detailed diagnostics of a fractured limestone zone. The GPR survey exploits low-frequency antennas and a data processing approach, based on microwave tomography, is exploited to improve the interpretability of the diagnostic results. In particular, the results of the survey permits to identify and localise the detachment surface in the underground, which could be responsible of a landslide and consequent rock-fall.
