The degassing rates of the low activation martensitic steels BATMAN C and F82H were measured as a function of time and temperature. The electronic properties of F82H were measured using photoelectron spectroscopy and protium diffusion and trapping were modelled for MANET II which has hydrogen interaction properties similar to F82H. BATMAN C has superior degassing properties with respect to F82H and on cooling of MANET II, most of the hydrogen remains trapped. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Abstract
The degassing rates of the low activation martensitic steels BATMAN C and F82H were measured as a function of time and temperature. The electronic properties of F82H were measured using photoelectron spectroscopy and protium diffusion and trapping were modelled for MANET II which has hydrogen interaction properties similar to F82H. BATMAN C has superior degassing properties with respect to F82H and on cooling of MANET II, most of the hydrogen remains trapped. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
