Sharing geographical data over the Internet does not simply mean publishing some figures representing maps (by means of .gif or .jpg files) and some tables or lists of data (by means of .html and .js files) but also being able to reproduce, at least partially, the kind of operations which can be done in a GIS, such as zooming in and out, selecting vistas or sets of features, associating tabular and spatial data, answering queries etc. We have tackled the above issue in the framework of the European project WATERMAN [0], concerning water management in the basin of the Struma river (Balkan region). In this report, we compare different possibilities to carry out such operation.

Abstract
Sharing geographical data over the Internet does not simply mean publishing some figures representing maps (by means of .gif or .jpg files) and some tables or lists of data (by means of .html and .js files) but also being able to reproduce, at least partially, the kind of operations which can be done in a GIS, such as zooming in and out, selecting vistas or sets of features, associating tabular and spatial data, answering queries etc. We have tackled the above issue in the framework of the European project WATERMAN [0], concerning water management in the basin of the Struma river (Balkan region). In this report, we compare different possibilities to carry out such operation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
