In this paper I analyzed the texts (Stob. ecl. I 161, 8-26; Aët. I 20, 1 e Sext. Emp. adv. math. X 3-4) which report the definitions of three importants concepts of Chrysippus' physics of space: topos, chôra and kenon. I tried to draw from the analysis of this evidence a conceptual frame as coherent as possible, along a trajectory different from that traced by Algra in his masterly work Concepts of Space in Greek Thought (1995).

Abstract

In this paper I analyzed the texts (Stob. ecl. I 161, 8-26; Aët. I 20, 1 e Sext. Emp. adv. math. X 3-4) which report the definitions of three importants concepts of Chrysippus' physics of space: topos, chôra and kenon. I tried to draw from the analysis of this evidence a conceptual frame as coherent as possible, along a trajectory different from that traced by Algra in his masterly work Concepts of Space in Greek Thought (1995).
