The aim of this work is to propose a method to evaluate characteristics of vascular system through the analysis of two pressure measurements using an input-output model of systemic circulation. Frequency domain analysis has been applied to pressure signals measured in aorta and in correspondence of right atrium. The reliability of pressure transfer function (PTF) has been tested on both in vitro and in vivo measurements. Final goal is to relate hydraulic characteristics of the system to the frequency response of the vascular district under examination.

Abstract

The aim of this work is to propose a method to evaluate characteristics of vascular system through the analysis of two pressure measurements using an input-output model of systemic circulation. Frequency domain analysis has been applied to pressure signals measured in aorta and in correspondence of right atrium. The reliability of pressure transfer function (PTF) has been tested on both in vitro and in vivo measurements. Final goal is to relate hydraulic characteristics of the system to the frequency response of the vascular district under examination.
