IL RILEVAMENTO IDROMORFOLOGICO E DEGLI HABITAT FLUVIALI NEL CONTESTO DELLA DIRETTIVA EUROPEA SULLE ACQUE: PRINCIPI E SCHEDE DI APPLICAZIONE DEL METODO CARAVAGGIO

The CARAVAGGIO (Core Assessment of River hAbitat VAlue and hydro-morpholoGIcal cOndition) method for the assessment of hydro-morphological and habitat features in rivers is briefly presented here. The form to be used for its application in the field and the key containing general information on the correct application of the method are also reported. The method, derived from the U.K. River Habitat Survey, maintains the same investigation approach, but it was specifically modified and implemented to cover the characteristics of South European rivers. The method facilitates the recording of a large number of features linked to river habitat and hydro-morphology, fulfilling WFD requirements (EC, 2000/60).

Viene brevemente presentato il metodo CARAVAGGIO (Core Assessment of River hAbitat VAlue and hydro-morpholoGIcal cOndition) per il rilevamento delle caratteristiche idromorfologiche e degli habitat fluviali. Sono brevemente illustrati il protocollo per l'applicazione del metodo e la chiave contenente la descrizione dei principali elementi necessari per una sua corretta applicazione. Il metodo deriva dal River Habitat Survey britannico, di cui conserva l'approccio generale, che è stato specificatamente implementato e modificato al fine di rappresentare più compiutamente la realtà fluviale sud europea. Il metodo consente il rilevamento di un'ampia gamma di caratteristiche idromorfologiche e di habitat, soddisfacendo i requisiti della Direttiva Quadro europea sulle Acque (EC, 2000/60).
