An urban scene has been reproduced to evaluate the radio coverage at VHF band computed by a ray-tracing technique developed at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). The results have been compared to those predicted by a set of meaningful statistical models. Though strong departure (in terms of mean attenuation) between the two approaches is noticeable, a good match is encountered for the statistical methods that take into account the complexity of the environment through a suitable set of parameters and, as far as possible, can be adapted to the characteristics of the area under investigation.

Abstract
An urban scene has been reproduced to evaluate the radio coverage at VHF band computed by a ray-tracing technique developed at Politecnico di Milano (Italy). The results have been compared to those predicted by a set of meaningful statistical models. Though strong departure (in terms of mean attenuation) between the two approaches is noticeable, a good match is encountered for the statistical methods that take into account the complexity of the environment through a suitable set of parameters and, as far as possible, can be adapted to the characteristics of the area under investigation.File in questo prodotto:
