Core photoelectron bands are shifted and asymmetrized as a consequence of the resonant interaction with the Auger continua. We evaluate the energy dependence of this interaction to explore to what degree the core 1 s photoelectron band of neon is asymmetric. On qualitative grounds, we find that PCI (post-collision interaction) and direct two-electron ionization can be neglected for the calculation of the band shape. The shift and asymmetrization can be viewed in terms of the Manne-Aberg theorem for inner-shell ionization if the resonant interaction is included.

Abstract
Core photoelectron bands are shifted and asymmetrized as a consequence of the resonant interaction with the Auger continua. We evaluate the energy dependence of this interaction to explore to what degree the core 1 s photoelectron band of neon is asymmetric. On qualitative grounds, we find that PCI (post-collision interaction) and direct two-electron ionization can be neglected for the calculation of the band shape. The shift and asymmetrization can be viewed in terms of the Manne-Aberg theorem for inner-shell ionization if the resonant interaction is included.File in questo prodotto:
