The SmBaCuO compound is potentially attractive for developing high temperature superconductor applications. In this work we deal with SmBaCuO thin films growth by means of pulsed laser ablation and deposition (PLAD). We report the SmBaCuO film properties by changing the relevant deposition parameters, such as the laser fluence (F) and the substrate temperature (T-s). Under suitable choice of such parameters the films show an epitaxial growth in the 00l direction on the crystalline MgO (100) substrate. In addition, these films have a quite sharp superconducting transition in the resistivity behavior at a temperature T > 77 K. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
