Variable displacement pumps are usually fitted with a variety of displacement controls in order to achieve various responses to load changes. The triple (pressure, flow and torque) controls with three-way tandem valves are analysed by computer simulation with sensitivity analysis. The possible use of sensitivity analysis during simulation in order to collect useful informations on the role played by design parameters in characterizing the behaviour of the pump is described. The possibility of order reduction in the model when a parameter is shown to have negligible influence on the transient is discussed. The information spectra available for a better understanding of products and for mutural comparison of various design options can be expanded. (from Authors)
