A new instruments generation for the analysis of Doppler signals, using very fast and reliable data acquisitors and processors, have been recently developed. These instruments (BSA from DANTEC and IFA 550 from TSI) have a wide measuring range they are capable to obtain a correct information on the Doppler frequency with different seeding levels and low signal to noise ratios. The two instruments have been tested in particularly critical situations approaching solid walls. Power spectra, velocity and turbulent intensity distributions have been measured, and compared with those obtained with tracker and counter.

Abstract

A new instruments generation for the analysis of Doppler signals, using very fast and reliable data acquisitors and processors, have been recently developed. These instruments (BSA from DANTEC and IFA 550 from TSI) have a wide measuring range they are capable to obtain a correct information on the Doppler frequency with different seeding levels and low signal to noise ratios. The two instruments have been tested in particularly critical situations approaching solid walls. Power spectra, velocity and turbulent intensity distributions have been measured, and compared with those obtained with tracker and counter.
