The article, published in the third volume of the series "Informatica e Discipline Umanistiche" and edited by Paola Moscati, addresses the major areas of research and development of a methodological approach aimed at applying quantitative analyses to the study of archaeological evidence. Particular attention is ascribed to mathematical and statistical techniques, the use of which has given rise in archaeology, especially in the context of prehistoric studies, to an actual autonomous field of investigation. Applications in the sector of typometric analysis, seriation, spatial analysis, and simulation of ancient cultural systems are discussed.

Abstract
The article, published in the third volume of the series "Informatica e Discipline Umanistiche" and edited by Paola Moscati, addresses the major areas of research and development of a methodological approach aimed at applying quantitative analyses to the study of archaeological evidence. Particular attention is ascribed to mathematical and statistical techniques, the use of which has given rise in archaeology, especially in the context of prehistoric studies, to an actual autonomous field of investigation. Applications in the sector of typometric analysis, seriation, spatial analysis, and simulation of ancient cultural systems are discussed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
