The wettability of aluminium nitride by aluminium, indium and Al-In alloy has been evaluated at 700 and 1000 °C. Data referring to the contact angle and to the workof adhesion were obtained by the sessile drop technique and are presented here together with SEM micrographs and EPMA analysis of the interfaces. The results are interpreted on the basis of thermodynamical considerations.

Abstract

The wettability of aluminium nitride by aluminium, indium and Al-In alloy has been evaluated at 700 and 1000 °C. Data referring to the contact angle and to the workof adhesion were obtained by the sessile drop technique and are presented here together with SEM micrographs and EPMA analysis of the interfaces. The results are interpreted on the basis of thermodynamical considerations.
