Investigations on some functional parameters in Pinus laricio (Poir). The aim of this study is to quantify variations of Specific Leaf Area Index (SLAI) according to stand characteristics. The experimental plot is within a unthinned laricio pine afforestation 37-year-old. The area and weight of needles, diameter at breast height (DBH) and at living crown (DLC), plant height and increment were measured on several plants. We observe that SLAI was directly affected by DBH and plant biomass; the relathionship between needles area and plant biomass is described by a linear equation. The xylem area is directly linked with the plant biomass and is modeled as a linear function.
