In Hydra 5-azacytidine inhibits head regeneration, thisinhibition persists in buds derived from treated parents even though the progeny were never exposed to the drug. Furthermore 5-azacytidine treatment increased buds production. The possible correlation of specific proteins with the morphogenetic events that are affected by 5-azacytidine treatment are discussed.
