The Elettra Sound project concerns the setting-up of a system for spatializing sound, based on the monitoring of U-velocity of acoustic energy. This quantity makes it possible to determine the average velocity at which sound energy flows away from a certain point inside the field in the direction of the active intensity. In order to measure U-velocity under controlled field conditions and test its sensitivity to the variation of some field parameters, a specific experimental setup has been arranged at the Acoustics Department of Cemoter, using the MARS (Musical Audio Research System) made at the IRIS-Bontempi Laboratories. This paper presents the preliminary results of U-velocity measurement in one-dimensional sound fields.

Abstract
The Elettra Sound project concerns the setting-up of a system for spatializing sound, based on the monitoring of U-velocity of acoustic energy. This quantity makes it possible to determine the average velocity at which sound energy flows away from a certain point inside the field in the direction of the active intensity. In order to measure U-velocity under controlled field conditions and test its sensitivity to the variation of some field parameters, a specific experimental setup has been arranged at the Acoustics Department of Cemoter, using the MARS (Musical Audio Research System) made at the IRIS-Bontempi Laboratories. This paper presents the preliminary results of U-velocity measurement in one-dimensional sound fields.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
