Passive mode-locking operation of a diode-pumped Tm:GdLiF4 laser is demonstrated over a wide wavelength tuning range, from 1868 to 1926 nm, using an InGaAs quantum wells saturable absorber. Pulse trains with a minimum duration of 17 ps and a repetition rate of 86 MHz have been obtained. A maximum output power of 270 mW has been achieved with a longer pulse duration of 44 ps.

Abstract
