Abstract

The Oliveri-Tindari system is composed by a series of coastal ponds, each of them formed in different periods over the last century. The dynamics of some trophic parameters emphasised strong differences among the basins. They showed conditions ranging from oligotrophy to eutrophy in fast time-evolution. Environmental data show both a high heterogeneity and a capacity of self-control of the system, through the turnover of organic matter.
