In recent years, symptoms of likely viral origin were observed in plants of Brugmasia spp. growing in private gardens and in one plant nursery near to Bari (Apulia, Southern Italy). Symptomatic plants showed small leaves with vein banding and chlorotic flecking. Leaf samples from symptomatic and symptomless Brugmasia were used for mechanical inoculation to herbaceous hosts and electron microscope observations (leaf dips, ISEM, and thin sectioning).
