The unoccupied states of C-60 have been studied for single monolayer and multilayer coverages on Au(110) with Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy (IPES). In agreement with previous results on C-60 on gold, we find that only the first monolayer, which is chemisorbed, shows a different spectrum compared to bulk C-60. However, a strong dependence of the pi-derived spectral weight on the C-60 adsorption site is evident comparing submonolayers and monolayers deposited at different temperatures. The C-60 monolayers investigated here present metallic character.

Abstract
The unoccupied states of C-60 have been studied for single monolayer and multilayer coverages on Au(110) with Inverse Photoemission Spectroscopy (IPES). In agreement with previous results on C-60 on gold, we find that only the first monolayer, which is chemisorbed, shows a different spectrum compared to bulk C-60. However, a strong dependence of the pi-derived spectral weight on the C-60 adsorption site is evident comparing submonolayers and monolayers deposited at different temperatures. The C-60 monolayers investigated here present metallic character.File in questo prodotto:
