Conventional propellers, special design propellers (such as controllable pitch and CLT propellers), thrusters (including POD and tunnel thrusters) and water-jets are propulsion systems that are evaluated in the SILENV project in order to find solution for N&V improvements. The selected solutions should have similar hydrodynamic performances but better N&V performance in respect to stationary and/or transient conditions (e.g. during manoeuvring). To assess improvements, existing numerical models for prediction of forces acting on the structure and pressure field around the propulsor will be adapted/refined.
