The paper introduces the KnowClass Model to represent fragments of reality and useful to retrieve terminology, information, knowledge and rules. Through its application it is possible capturing, analysing and organising con-cepts embedded in terminology. The model integrates ontological, semantic and semiotic information in order to elicit knowledge. The approach allows to reveal the implicit components of the categorisation. The implicit categories governing the conceptualisation are of various types and lie at different levels of profundity. The methodology adopted for the practical categorisation as well as some results and values are presented. The paper shows the possible uses of the application in an interoperability context.

Conceptualisation and Terminology for Knowledge Elicitation of Technologies and Production Process

2005
