All relevant aspects to GCS were discussed in a conference entitled Geochemical reactivity in CO 2 geological storage sites: Advances in optimizing injectivity, assessing storage capacity and minimizing environmental impacts held in Orléans, France, on February 25/26 2013. This conference gathered scientists from diff erent sectors of the Earth-Sciences domain and from both research institutions and industrial operators involved in GCS. Th e scientifi c program welcomed sixteen invited speakers and ten poster contributions organized in four sessions: (i) Pilot tests and active CCS projects: Lessons learned and state of the art, (ii) Geochemical monitoring of storage sites and studies of natural analogues, (iii) Laboratory experiments, and (iv) Thermodynamic and kinetic data, numerical modeling. Th is special issue contains seven manuscripts from research institutes in France, Germany, Norway, and Spain.
