Abstract

The transmission of a Bessel beam through a plane-parallel layer with refractive index smaller than that of the rounding medium is studied in both the scalar and vectorial approximations. It is shown that the motion inside the gap is extremely fast, especially immediately after the first boundary. Moreover, the amplitude and the phase of the transmission coefficient are different, depending on the TE or TM polarization.
