The objective of the work is to produce innovative multifunctional filter media (self-cleaning, photo-catalytic, biocidal, high efficiency, reactive and adsorbent properties) integrating inorganic nanoparticles (silver and titania) into keratin nanofibres by electrospinning. Multi-component organic/inorganic nanofibers were produced by electrospinning water solutions of keratin extracted from wool containing nanosols of titanium dioxide and metal silver.

Abstract

The objective of the work is to produce innovative multifunctional filter media (self-cleaning, photo-catalytic, biocidal, high efficiency, reactive and adsorbent properties) integrating inorganic nanoparticles (silver and titania) into keratin nanofibres by electrospinning. Multi-component organic/inorganic nanofibers were produced by electrospinning water solutions of keratin extracted from wool containing nanosols of titanium dioxide and metal silver.
