An oligomer, containing 1,1dioxothiophene core and fluorene tails, with noticeable photoluminescence properties, has been synthesised by organometallic route. The crystal and molecular structure have been investigated and related with energy packing calculations. The structure consists of the packing of discrete molecules card-pack arranged, together linked by H-bonds between H-alkyl chain atom and oxygen of 1,1dioxothiophene of adjacent molecule.
