The Energy Power Cluster project will attempt to facilitate an exchange of expertise between North and South of Italy, in a win-win system, to stimulate the growth of expertise, promote the transfer of good practice and encourage enterprise creation through mechanisms of spin offs. The project activities are involving companies and research centres working in the field of innovative energy technologies of the two Italian provinces, Messina e Como, providing system and exploiting the results of research, know-how, innovative entrepreneurial experiences. The process of technology transfer is being developed through the following two macro-actions: an action aimed at existing companies operating in the two sectors nautical and living (including furniture, construction, etc..) and the other action aimed at supporting the creation of new hi-tech enterprises. Concerning the first action, the planned activities are as follows: -a survey on business needs of companies and the main obstacles to the adoption of innovations relating to energy technologies. At this stage, we have carried out visits to companies, both in Messina that in Como. In Messina, the visits were made by the staff of the technology transfer offices of the ITAE and the University of Messina, in collaboration with Confindustria Messina and the Chamber of Commerce of Messina. We have been visited a total of 44 companies. While in Como, the visits were conducted by ComoNext and have been visited . around twenty enterprises. -technological audit in order to identify the most appropriate solutions to improve the energy performance of enterprises. In Messina, according with the project, 15 companies, mainly operating in the production of pleasure boats, have been involved in this phase. Researchers of the ITAE have provided and are providing some solutions, on the basis of indications or claims by companies, in order to introduce in their boats electric propulsion systems or systems to reduce electrical consumption in the production process. In Como the activities have been carried out involving enterprises operating in the field of housing, intercepting technology needs and development opportunities. -support for the implementation of pilot projects aimed at assisting 10 companies to adopt energy technologies identified during the audit activity. Regarding the other macro action, supporting the creation of new hi-tech enterprises, the project foresees a training course started with the assessment of the feasibility and sustainability of the business idea and ended with the birth of the enterprise. The aim of this activity is to promote entrepreneurship, among young people and researchers through mechanisms of spin offs, and to supporting the creation of new businesses from the existing ones through joint venture, based on the results of public research, between researchers and entrepreneurs. Abstract
