In this work we characterized with morphological (fruit and seed size and weight and seed number per fruit) and genetic descriptors (ribosomic DNA), four accessions of A. colubrina, collected from different sites over the distribution area of the species in Salta Province. Weight and length distribution of fruits were Normal in all populations. San Bernardo had the heaviest fruits and seeds and El Cebilar the lightest. Fruits and seeds from Metan and El Gallinato were similar and intermediate. The proportion of viable and aborted seeds were similar while that of predated was low in the four populations. The distance in the morphological descriptors of fruits and seeds were higher between Metan and El Cebilar and between San Bernardo and El Cebilar respectively. The nucleotidic comparison showed 98% homology between San Bernardo and Metan and between El Cebilar and El Gallinato. A lower homology (90%) was found between San Bernardo, El Cebilar and El Gallinato and between Metán, El Cebilar and El Gallinato. In synthesis between San Bernardo and El Cebilar populations, the distance was higher and coincident in seeds morphological and genetic descriptors.
