Toward the scientific and technical digitallibrary: a challenge for the Third Millennium The Centrai Library "G. Bom in 1927, the Library carries out support activities to Italian innovation and progress by indexing, recording, and conserving all the bibliographical heritage printed in Italy, both scientific and technical (Law on the Print Right 2 February 1939, n. 374, 31 August 1945, n. 660 and 15 April 2004, n. 106 ). In times of technology coming, the Library "G. Marconi" has undergone various transformation and changes in arder to become accessible to local and remote users, especially after the appearance of electronic press. The use of the Net has allowed users to access easily both to printed material and multimedia collections, with an immediate and transparent service. The concept 'library to user' has completely overturned that of the 'user in the library': a sort of Copemicus revolution. By this way the CNR Centrai Library is deeply involved in the bibliographical material informatization with the digital retrieval of its collections and historical funds (Pallottino, Tedone etc.), the e-joumals, the data-base ofthe Italian Grey Literature, the recording and cataloguing of the maps and, least but not the last, the empowering ofthe reference-desk which allows not only the immediate consultation ofthe serial in subscription but also the immediate article's printing. The present demo-poster aims to illustrate all the innovative services of CNR Central Library through a survey on the users' qualification, the CNR participation to national and international research projects and the publication of their results on reviews with impact factor: this might finally trace a parameter of the products offered in an ambitious viewpoint of representing and supporting all the informative needs of the ltalian research.

Abstract

Toward the scientific and technical digitallibrary: a challenge for the Third Millennium The Centrai Library "G. Marconi" of Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (National Research Council) represents the National Library of Science and Technique in Italy.
