Internationalization is increasingly central in science policy. However, an evidence base is lacking. In an ESF member forum we are developing a set of indicators for internationalization for research funding organizations and research performing organizations. These indicators are mainly based on internal data of these organizations. However, it is not easy to relate funding and internationalization of collaboration and output, only using that kind of information. Recently, the Web of Science introduced a field with funding information, and in this paper we explore whether that information can be used to improve indicators describing the internationalization of funding agencies. The results of this explorative study are promising.

Abstract
Internationalization is increasingly central in science policy. However, an evidence base is lacking. In an ESF member forum we are developing a set of indicators for internationalization for research funding organizations and research performing organizations. These indicators are mainly based on internal data of these organizations. However, it is not easy to relate funding and internationalization of collaboration and output, only using that kind of information. Recently, the Web of Science introduced a field with funding information, and in this paper we explore whether that information can be used to improve indicators describing the internationalization of funding agencies. The results of this explorative study are promising.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
